Oh no! You could have caught from anywhere, have you been in hospital recently? What are they doing about it?
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Sorry to hear you have MRSA Lynn.
Have you got some treatment for it?
Hope you feel better soon.

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Lynn

So sorry to hear this, do they think the coughing up blood is due to MRSA infection? Are they doing further tests like chest xrays, scans etc?

I have had 8 months of infection from an infected shoulder joint prosthesis, which has come back from microbiology with multiple results over that time including MRSA, MSSA and others too. If you google MRSA it will tell you that 30% of people carry MRSA on their bodies with no ill effects but if it 'colonises', eg gets into a deep wound (not superficial) or other organs they have to treat it with strong antibiotics as it is resistant to penicillin based antibiotics and some others.

If it is only on the skin, up the nose etc, they give some ointment and a body wash for a 5 day treatment or until it tests clear.

I am sure your GP will consult the hospital microbiology department for advice as this is the usual route. MRSA can be hospital acquired or community acquired.

Main thing is that they are addressing the cause of your distressing symptoms. Do hope you will feel better very soon and try not to worry. People do have a big reaction to the MRSA diagnosis, some friends treated me as if I had the plague, though my GP and nurses said I was the one at risk!

Take care and let us know how you get on,
Love Liz

Hi Lynn

Sorry you've been told this. If you are very worried, can you go back and talk to your doctor or a nurse?
